262. Monsters Like Sacrificing Virgins

The taste of peppers changes the longer they are left on the vine. There are some varieties that develop from green to yellow to a deep, sweet purple. They can be eaten at any stage of their growth, depending on the richness of taste and the demands of your dishes or palate.

Many other foods evolve in flavor as they age. Wines contain tannins that help shift and change the liquid’s flavor as it ages, or even as it aerates. Veal and lamb chops are often much more prized cuts than beef or mutton.

In much the same way, monsters prefer the taste of ripe young ladies. Certainly, don’t pick them too soon. Yuck. But at the same time, there’s no need to give us sacrifices that have been left out in the sun too long, either. Those are just bitter, and wrinkled, and spoil the taste of our meal.
