449. Monsters Like Having Unfinished Business

If you died today, how many items on your to-do list would be left uncrossed? I know I, for one, have a huge Netflix queue that would be calling me back from the other side.

Don’t laugh. Souls have had trouble passing into the light for far sillier reasons. But despite the scenario, each is important to the ghost in limbo. And not all ghosts have the power to move on on their own.

Maybe you’re a professional hot dog eater whose stomach was donated to a practicing Jew and you can’t move on until he’s convinced to win the competition on your behalf. Or maybe you and your girlfriend believed too strongly in Y2K and you died in an underground bunker, and you just want your girlfriend to get out before she runs out of food. Or maybe you just wanted to be buried at sea, not the East River.

Whatever the circumstance, moving on can be difficult for a disembodied spirit. And it can be downright dangerous for the living. In those situations, it’s good to have an honest-to-goodness medium on your side to help you communicate with the living, finish your business, and move into the light.

I’m just glad that my unfinished business can be done from the comfort of my medium’s sofa.

On Deadbeat, a medium helps ghosts with their unfinished business.

Sarah G

What do you get when you cross a horror movie with a pile of books? She’s not always sure, but Sarah G is always there to find the connection. In the process, she has helped found a local nonprofit, started a satirical holiday, ticked off celebrities, and tried to purchase the lunar surface.
